Reimagining Planetary Health Through Indigenous Knowledge, Healing, and Resilience | Spotlight on Human and Planetary Health with Dr. Nicole Redvers

The accelerating impacts of climate change and other environmental changes on human and planetary health invite deeper engagement with Indigenous knowledge systems that center relationships, reciprocity, intergenerational responsibility, and care for the land. In this Spotlight on Human and Planetary Health Speaker Series event, Dr. Nicole Redvers – Associate Professor, Western Research Chair, and Director of Indigenous Planetary Health at Western University, and member of the Deninu K’ue First Nation (Northwest Territories, Canada) – will explore how Indigenous knowledges, epistemologies, and community-centered approaches can enrich and transform how we understand and act on human and planetary health challenges.

Drawing from her interdisciplinary scholarship and global research with Indigenous communities, Dr. Redvers will discuss the interconnections between culture, land, health, and wellbeing, and illuminate how Indigenous perspectives can offer vital frameworks for climate resilience, health equity, and planetary stewardship. This event will explore how to bridge Indigenous and Western scientific paradigms, emphasizing values that are essential for sustainable and just health futures, while highlighting opportunities to center Indigenous Peoples, their leadership, and their knowledges in human and planetary health solutions.

Co-hosted by the Center for Human and Planetary Health, Center for Just Environmental Futures, and Native American Studies.
